January – March 2013 Movie Nights On The Sexual Lives of Filipinos during the Marcos Dictatorship

Our movie nights are back by popular demand! Presenting the Winter 2013 Viewing and Reading Group on…

The Sexual Lives of Filipinos during the Marcos Dictatorship: The Politics of Desire in the Philippine Popular Imagination

It’s programmed by Teilhard Paradela, a PhD Student of History. We’ll read an academic essay in our own time, watch a pop culture movie that touches on the essay, and then meet up back at UBC to discuss both the essay and the movie. While munching on tasty food the entire time.

Our events are open to the public! You don’t need to be from UBC or Filipino. You don’t need to attend everything, just drop in whenever you can. Everyone’s welcome so long as you can email Tei at ahead of time at ubc.pss@gmail.com. He’ll need to know how many people to expect, and so we wouldn’t run out of lumpia or something. There’s nothing more sad than getting to a party and realizing that all the lumpia is gone, believe me. So yeah, if you want both lumpia and bomba, you gotta email.
